Time Flies
A downloadable game for Windows
Notice: Due to some excellent feedback I'll put a notice here: Use the line that shoots out under the cat as a way to gauge the distance, if it intersects with the ground you know that you can land there safely)
About The Game:
Trapped in an hourglass your only choice is to survive the rising sands. While you're unable to jump you can teleport with help from your companion.
The twist?
The hourglass flips when you reach the top, now you need to go back through the level with everything upside down.
Each time you flip the level the sand rises faster!
Try and aim for surviving the longest OR reaching the top in the quickest time possible (there may be a bug with the "Best Time" already having a score...hopefully not though!)
Be sure to submit your best time in the comments! (shown on top right of screen)
There's no tutorial really, so follow the arrows that are scattered through the level to find your way!
Controls:
| Movement | WASD |
| Look Around | Mouse |
| Throw | Space/Left Click |
| Teleport (while companion is thrown) | Right Click |
| Reset | R |
| Pause/Settings Menu | Escape |
(make sure sensitivity is good and fps cap works for you without screen tearing in the pause menu)
Info:
This is actually the first game I've ever published as well as the first jam I've entered (GMTK 2025) and the second game I've ever finished (sort of) and that shows quite a bit... while I have 5~ years of experience with game dev I've always had the wrong mindset with scope and perfectionism, so this was a way to change that. Most of my experience is with 2D games so I'm still learning 3D art styles so I wasn't that efficient with the visuals but it works, while some may call the environment "untextured" I'd call it inspired by brutalism architecture (I had no time to texture things).
This game is quite a mess (the music went pretty well though and was the most fun part of the project) but I hope you enjoy it despite everything!

Game Jam Theme:
Made for the GMTK 2025 game jam based on the them "loop" my idea is that the level flips and you have to loop back and forth through the level with the sand getting quicker and quicker.
